Hi All,
I'm simualting a journal bearing with some eccentricity and trying to investigate the surface roughness of the journal in the load carrying capacity and friction. I simply make a two mesh and use the rotor stator tutorial to move them against each other. first i did a frozen rotor interface to find an initial guess for my problem and then i did transient rotor stator. in the transient rotor stator an strange things happen! i ran a simulation without dimepl and with dimepl...for the case without dimpel the residuals keep oscilating with 2-3 frequencies seems the solver can not find a steady solutuon!!! this results means we will never have steady state solution even after 2-3 pitches. What do u think can cause this residuals oscilation. Robin would you please help me ? this is my master thesis so i do need help. Thanks a lot. |

Hi,
This issue of failing to converge has been discussed extensively. Firstly read the documentation on tips for obtaining convergence. Then do a search of this forum and you will find many other comments. Glenn Horrocks |
