2D models in CFX

Hi. Here is my problem:
I'm trying to simulate 2d heat tranfering by natural convection. I'm afraid that CFX doesn't support 2D models. But documentation said: "2D Meshes are not supported in ANSYS CFX. However, ANSYS CFX can use 3D meshes that are one element thick" It also said nothing about what the best ELEMENT THICK. Changing element thick cause sufficient changing velocity field. Can anyone halp with such problem? What is th best element shape and size? Thanks Igor M. |

can you describe your geometry, the thermal boundary conditions and the goal of your simulation. Maybe I can help you. Regards, Zoran |

If you choose symmetry boundary condition at the two faces vertical with the thick direction, I think there may be no difference with the element thick. Good Luck!

Use 'Extrude 2D Mesh' under 'Options' in CFX mesh and select 1 layer.

Hi, Zoran.
I'm trying to investigate cooling effect of natural convection by CFX with expremental verification. The fist iteration is to make simple model with follows geomentry: ssssssssssss s s s s s s H s H s H s s s s s ssssssssssss where H is heat source with temp = 310. and s is the boundary with no slip condition. What is the bet way. I'm intersting in stationary solution. Thanks. Igor. |
