Hello everyone,
I am currently simulating the flow over a vertically oscillating plate with a high oscillation amplitude. The mesh include two domains: a square around the plate and its surrounding area.
To address the mesh deformation issue, I have specified displacement to all boundaries of the smaller square domain. This approach gives a significantly improved mesh quality compared to prescribing motion solely to the plate. However, some mesh deformation persists.
Ideally, I would like to achieve a rigid translation of the small square domain (mesh), similar to what is possible in Fluent. Is it possible to do this in CFX?

Can you show an image of what you want to do? And an image showing what the problem with your current approach?

The problem with this approach is struggling with convergence, when the mesh is extensively refined near the plate. I guess, it is a result of mesh deformation. I want a mesh that moves simultaneously with the boundaries of the small domain. Like a rigid body motion. I also tried constant mesh stiffness with high value, but it didn't give what I want.

Please post some images of how your deforms when you have convergence problems.

Also, please explain what motion you expect. Different types of motion allow different approaches. For instance, is it rigid body, translation only, rotation only, flexible and stiff or flexible and soft (like a flag)?

Please post a section of your output file which shows the poor convergence.
