Hello my fellow fluid dynamicists...
I have a quick question concerning calculation time for a wind turbine model I'm trying to do. I'm using COMSOL and it's a time dependent study. It has about 1.1 million degrees of freedom and i've set up the physics so that the wind flow makes a visible rotation of the turbine. I'm running an intel I7 hexacore processor with hyperthreading (so that reads like 12 cores in all) with a base of 3.4GHz but i'm overclocking to get 4.7GHz. I have 32GB of RAM (the calculation only uses about 7) I'd like to know if anyone has run a somewhat similar calculation and can let me know what kind of calculation time I'm looking at. Ps. I tested a simpler wind turbine model with about 100,000 DOF and 1 second of calculation took about 1 hour in actual time. Thanks, Davitt |
