The FV-UNS format is described in the Appendix of the FIELDVIEW user manual.

As John said it's well documented in the User manual, you could also call your distributor if you require further info, they are very helpful.

I am currently writing an API to read binary FieldView files (version 3.0). I made a visual file structure representation, which is based on the reference guide. Howevever, the documentation is not perfectly clear on two topics:
- Wether the polygon element section is really optional
- The standard element header encoding

For that reason, I can not vouch for perfection.

If anyone has access to the fv_encode_elem_header routine, I'm happy for any further insights, because the standard elements can not be read if a section contains mixed standard element definitions. I am currently skipping these sections.
