I am simulating a 3d multi phase (3d, dp, pbns, vof, sstkw, transient) flow through a pressure cell (using fluent). Actually i have been struggling to plot a graph for mass flow rate at outlet vs time. I am just wondering whether it is possible to draw a plot for mass flow rate (outlet) vs time (cfd post).
If possible, any guideline will be highly appreciated. I am a newbie in fluent and cfd post.

Hi,

You can set a surface monitor on your outlet and choose to plot and write a text file of it during the simulation. There must exist instructions about how to create suface monitors in Fluent user guide. It's simple.

Thanks for the guideline. There is a drop down list where I can select flow time instead of iteration. Didn't know about it before.
Just wondering, is there any way to do the same thing in CFD post (like plotting XY chart). Actually I know the procedure for velocity and pressure (selecting XY transient and location at desired point). But for mass flow rate it doesn't work.

Well, sorry I don't have a CFDpost here so I can't help you. But sweep through the manual if you have it. It cannot be complicated.

In cfd post you can get only instaneous or mean/average plot for variables. For mass flow rate with time you have to define surface monitor during simulation it will write mass flowrate or any other variable with each timestep
