Hi,

I am running a 2D Cylinder and Piston on Fluent and I want to use the layering method in dynamic mesh while I use a UDF for piston motion. The first question is literally how can I do this?! I tried to define dynamic mesh zones but when I click on the display zone motion, unfortunately, I get the no dynamic mesh zones to display. I define the piston as a rigid body with a UDF and other zones as stationary. Would you please help me to get this moving?

Hi Hootan,

Have you solved this problem? I am facing a similar question with you.

Hi Randal,

Yes, I have solved this. You need to first define your moving object as a rigid body and then define the environment in which your object is moving as deforming. There are some zone parameters that need to be defined in the dynamic mesh menu, which is based on your mesh size. Also, I used the layering method so it is necessary to make sure other methods are off in the methods menu.

Hi Hootan,

Thanks a lot for your kind reply!

I described my question with some pictures in another Thread. Here is the link:

Could you give me some advice?
