Hi all
I have a 2 phases model: air phase and a solid carbon phase in a gasifier. What i want to do it is to make the fixed bed/ packed bed to be consisted of only the solid phase with 0.5 volume fraction. What i did: 1. I set the solid phase to be granular and packed bed under the [phase interaction]. 2. Before running the calculation, i initiated and patch the zones of the column where i want the solid phase to be with volume fraction of 0.5. 3. As i started running the simulation (in transient state), at approximately 2 seconds into the simulation time, the volume fraction of the solid phase has dropped to 0.2+ instead of the desired 0.5 which i believe the solid phase has been flushed down through the outlet. PS. I have tried to set the cell zone condition to porous with porosity of 0.5 but the result came back undesirable. The velocity of the solid phase was set at zero at all time. May i know if anyone here knows the ways or method to configure a packed bed column with constant volume fraction inside? Thanks in advance!! |
