Hi
I have a simple question on population balance model. If I want to do a transient mixture model, with no coalescence, no breakage, no nucleation, no growth, ..., Are these two scenarios any different? 1- having a diameter size distribution of particles using PBM. 2- Having mixture model, and instead of having PBM for particle size distribution, I use Sauter Mean Diameter of different sizes for the secondary phase? Thanks |

Well, I figured the answer.
Having a transient simulation, you might have more particles of smaller sizes leaving the domain, which will gradually increase the Sauter Mean Diameter (SDM) in the domain. So by using PBM, you will be able to observe the change of SDM. |
