Hello everyone,

I am working on my Bachelor Thesis as Mechanical Engineer. What I want to do is get experimental data in a Wind Tunnel and compare it with CFD simulations of a cylinder and then of an airfoil.

I will analyze data from different Reynolds numbers: 10, 40, 100, 200, 1000, 10k, 100k and 500k. I am following this paper, wich I really like and looks very useful.
https://www.researchgate.net/publica...and_Validation

By now I am running laminar simulations for Re 10, 40, 100 and 200 of a 2d cylinder.

After some research I finally could get the time traces of Cd, Cl, Cp and found St after doing a FFT of the Cl report. Everything great, and results are very similiar to Experimental data...

The thing I cant figure out is how to plot the Time Trace of the Angle of Boundary Separation (As in the figure https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pXpK057s06KbmRoqDUj-sZP7StMcX59j/view?usp=sharing and https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h1lu67lFi-nZqaARc-uFzzfPwZ2Sd5QW/view?usp=sharing).

The way I am getting an aproximation of the separation angles is finding the point where the wall shear stress is minimum:

-Saving Wall Shear Stress vs X as .XY
-Saving Wall Shear Stress vs Y as .XY
-Opening it in Excel, and separating data for Y>0 and Y<0. (For upper and lower separation)
-Writing a column with the angle (theta = acos(x/r)
-Finding Minimum Wall Shear Stress, and setting that point as the Boundary separation.

This is what I am getting:

But I know its not OK, since I know this value keeps waving in time, as shown it the figures.

Did anyone do this before? Any suggestion? Thank you
