rudyy is on a distinguished road
Hello,

I am struggling to get reasonable results with the P1 radiation model and would like to know if it is a reasonable fit for my model.

The model is a 3 inch heated ceramic pipe with gase flowing inside. The pipe is about 70 in long with a 30 inch heated region in the middle. The heated region is roughly 1500 C, and the incoming gases are room temperature. The pipe often has hardware inside - my cell counts are frequently over 1M.

The P1 model is being used as I read it is not too computationally expensive, but still accounts for scattering. I am trying to review my notes on heat transfer and find some literature on radiation specifically.

Can anyone tell me if this model is remotely reasonable for my application? I am struggling to find any tutorials or models which implement P1 on complex geometries.

Thanks in advance
