Hi all,
I am facing which I consider the classical problem in CFD models. I am stuck with a mesh. yplus consideration with k-w turbulence model requires values close to 1, which in my model means very small first layer height of 1e-5m (compare to hundreds of meters domain). Furthermore, my geometry is a cylinder disk which have very sharp angles around the edges (90 degrees). That, produces elements with very low orthogonal quality near the edge and, only increasing the number of elements in an enormous way makes my mesh suitable. Any tip on this kind of simple geometries but rather difficult to mesh? I wonder if I am missing something here. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks to all |

Just in case somebody else finds the same situation. Rounding sharp edges was the solution that helped me to overcome the situation.
