Hello,
I am relatively new to Ansys Fluent. I am simulating a mask embedded with a fan. Unfortunately, after the simulation, in the results section, when I am choosing the streamlines, the lines are passing through the solid part of the mask instead of passing through the opening. In the SETUP, the boundary conditions option has SOLID selected for these parts. For the enclosure, I only kept the fan of the mask. Since I used the enclosure in SpaceClaim, it automatically creates boolean I guess? So the boolean is only of the fan. I am attaching the pictures of streamlines I am getting and the geometry of the mask. Please help me whoever knows the issue. Thanks in advance |

Thanks for the reply.
Here as you can see, I only kept the fan in enclosure and rest of the geometry was assembled normally. When I am taking more then 1 part in enclosure, it is giving an error. In cell zone conditions, I am setting the fan as a solid and giving it a rotational speed of 5600 rpm whereas the enclosure is set as a fluid with ZERO velocity. In the boundary conditions, I have given inlet velocity and outlet is set as pressure. The contact regions are set as interface and interiors are set as walls. |

Hi Hammad,
If the first figure shows the enclosure, you are bringing to the mesher/solver, you have not enclosed or subtracted the mask solid. You need to create the enclosure around both objects (fan and mask). |

Thanks for the reply. I did try to bring other parts of mask into the enclosure but the problem is that I am not able to create enclosure on more then 1 part of the assembly. It's giving me an error.

You probably need to simplify the geometry and possibly merge the parts before making the enclosure. Then you can split it up afterwards.

I'm sorry but can you explain a bit more. Because if I merge the mask and fan in one body and then make enclosure of the whole geometry, later on in the solvent I won't be able set the condition (rpm) of the fan for simulation.

I guess the problem originates from the geometry stage.. You are not able to create an enclosure around both bodies, which means that you need to either simplify the geometry and find the cause of the software not being able to enclose them, or you need to combine the bodies, make the enclosure and then split up the domains afterwards. If you slice/split up the enclosure, you should be able to isolate the fan domain.
