Hi, I’ve been trying to create this aerofoil mesh that I found online (Purple mesh) myself in ICEM CFD.
I managed to generate the geometry, and get the meshing started (Green is mine) but I think I’m meshing wrongly maybe as my mesh doesn’t look like the one that I’m trying to create? Can someone point me me in the right direction with it please? I’m struggling with meshing the edges, I don’t really know where to go from what I’ve done to get it the same Thanks in advance! It is possible to regulate the number of elements on the edges of the blocks as well as their size (uniform, power law ecc). If you see the “good mesh”, the element size is changing on the external border.

Hi LoGal, yeah so I’ve been trying with the ‘blocking’ function within ICEM, but nothing seems to allow that curved/skewed mesh lines in the wake area?
I think for the element size change, I managed to get that from ‘Exponential’ meshing option, but it still doesn’t give the slanted lines? |

So, the wake area in the good mesh has two blocks, the upper one and the lower one, which share an edge in the middle, which is coming right from the trailing edge of the airfoil.
If you assign different element size distribution to the "shared edge" and the "outer edges", you will get that skewed lines |

Hi Lorenzo, I think I understand what you mean, I’ll give that a go and let you know how it goes
This is what I have currently with the mesh, like you said I have the 2 blocks in the wake so I’ll try the mesh the top and bottom lines different to the middle and next You really know your stuff! |

Hi LoGal, so I managed to get those skewed lines like you said! And I made some refinements, like more elements on a line.
What do you think please? |

You should adjust the elementsize distribution so that you do not have those sharp area transitions where the blocks touch each other
