On turbulent viscosity!

When I use Fluent to simulate 3D flow field (a thin fence on the endwall), the following information appears: ˇ°Turbulent viscosity limited to viscosity ratio of 1.000000+05 in 18 cells.ˇ± What does it mean? Do I need to reset any parameters? Do it affect computation results? What should I do? Thank you!

I get this message sometimes, but usually at the start of my iterations, when the solution is highly non-converged. (also applies to temperature, pressure, etc)
I would leave it alone, because if your boundary conditions are sound, with appropriate initialization, this statement will disappear after a few iterations. Do not worry about its effect on your final convergence. If HOWEVER this statement persists for a long while, then your solution may not be converging, so you might want to consider running an inviscid solution first, to bring your solution closer to solution, before you activate viscosity. |
