Hi,
I would like to know if the values of the forces in Report --->forces, depend on the references values??? I know that the refences values are used for the forces COEFFICIENTS (drag or lift..) but I am not sure about the FORCES. thanks !! Tania |

Only in 2D... You define a model depth in the reference values window and it will multiply the 2D forces by this depth.

So, you mean that in 3D (I am modelling a propeller) the references values are not used to calculate the forces

They won't effect your forces in 3D. Fluent integrates the local pressure and viscous forces over the area they act on to calculate your loads. In 2D, the results are Force/unit length, but most people don't think in those terms so Fluent multiplies the results it calculates by the depth that you input in the reference values window.
Easiest way to figure it out would be to solve the model and calculate the forces. Then change all the reference values to 1, or 50, or anything for that matter, and recalculate the forces to see if they change. They won't, it will only change the coefficients, but its an easy way to double-check if you want to make sure. Good luck, Jason |
