I have a Problem with axi- symmetric modelling of a cylinder. if i solve the same rectangular mesh in 2-d model it converges but in the axi-symmetric model it is diverging. Can any one help me in this regard.

The B.C. must be different for both the cases. In the axisymmetric case, u have to consider only half of the cylinder dia.

The B.C would be axis.

Also there is no point in comparing both results.

First you decide which is the better way to model yr problem. i.e (2-d or axiymmetric).

The usual culprit is the axis of symmetry. The X-Axis must be the axis of symmetry in an axisymmetric model.
