Convergance and assymetry issues

The model is a very thin(1mm) laminated struture of glass and silicon. On the interface between the glass and silicon, a platinum heater is placed. The problems are as follows
1. On solving, the energy resildual remains constant for an under-relaxation factor of less than one, i.e it dsnt solve at all. The sytem blows up for a factor of 1. So I 'kickstart' the system with 5 iterations at factor 1 and then solve at 0.98 which seems to work. 2. On changing the heating value and restartting from a previous solution, the sytem does not want to change. I have to re-initialize and go over step 1 to get a solution. 3. The solution given is an asymmetrical solution contrary to expectation. I am not reducing the model right now because of symmetry since I will be adding a flow channel which will break the symmetry. Note: The elements in my model are very thin. 1x1x0.05mm Thanks in advance. Amit. |
