Hi, I have installed Exceed and Gambit in my computer, but when I run gambit, I always get this error: Cannot open connect stream. TRANS(SocketINETGetAddr): tnamebysocket() failed TRANS(SocketINETConnect): TRANS(SocketINETGetAddr) () failed TRANS(Open): transport open failed for tcp/Computer_name:0 Unable to open display
How to solve this problem? Thanks a lot! Henry |

You will not have this problem if you are using Windows 98. I am facing the same problem in Windows XP. The only easy way to get across this is to get rid of Windows XP and try installing Windows 98.
The security settings in XP is much better compared to 98 and you have to play with a lot of settings to sort this problem out. However, if you still want to keep XP, try this. Go to control panels and click on System settings. Then under system variables click on advanced. Under advanced click on environment variables. Last but not the least, add a new user variable. Type DISPLAY in variable name and your computer name in variable value. Click ok. This should sort the problem, hopefully! |
