Hi all,
I want to model a wet well to investigate formation of vortices. I would like to know a parameter based on which we can gauge the performance of current pump arrangement. e.g. vorticity - permissible value, Swril etc If anybody has done something similar please let me know Regards, pp |

I use a streamtrace function and look at vectors in obvious areas of vortex formation, as well as the vortex core tool provided in Tecplot. Tecplot uses either a vorticity vector method, or an eigenvalue method. There was a paper in the Journal of Hydraulic Engineering 3 or 4 years ago discussing vortex searching methods in CFD results.
