Default relationship between wall shear stress and TKE

can somebody show me the relationship between wall shear stress and turbulent kinetic energy? I have an equation of u_tau=(shear stress/row)^0.5=C_miu^(1/4)k^(1/2), but I don't know how k and shear stress Tau_w are calculated when standard wall function is employed. I mean, how wall function is used in FLUENT. For example, knowing y_p, u_tau is necessary to calculate y*, then from the experimental stand wall function, we have U_tau, and again from U_tau to u_p, u_tau is necessary. to calculate u_tau, Tau_w or k is necessary, which one is used then? Or am I right with above sequence? thanks a lot.
