Hi

What exactly will be reported by FLUENTS

display----> Contours--->Velocity--->Velocity-Magnitude...

Is it the sum of all the three velocity(x,y,z) components?......

what if the flow is only in one direction say Y and X=0 and Z=0 ? What exactly is then reported my Velocity Magnitude

thank you

nice day

-mAx- will become famous soon enough
Velocity Magnitude = sqrt (Ux**2 + Uy**2 + Uz**2)
If Uy=Uz=0, then VM = sqrt(Ux**2)=Ux

thank you max

this explanation is very clear.....

i can see Ux Uy Uz (X-Velocity,Y-Velocity etc...) distinctly .......i mean i can visualize these three components clearly with various contour levels and find velocity variations in my domain.......but when I switch to "Velocity Magnitude" in contour display option ...most of my domain shows deep blue color which is close or equal to 0 m/s......

Does this mean that i do not have any resultant velocity at the end? or doest it mean the resultant velocity is a result of your explanation above.....

you should have a place with high velocity in comparison with all your domain. Modify the scale of the VM

What is ment by Modify the scale of velocity magnitude? do you kindlly mean to change the velocity to a higher value? whats if the velocity is an inlet velocity boundary condition?

I meant: modify upper scale limit (max value)
