Hi Dear Friends,
I'm doing the simulation of a flapping airfoil with "Fluent" and it's related to Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAV's), i was wondering if you can give me some information like:

1) what kind of flow is it? (2D or 3D, compressible or incompressible , laminar or turbulent , steady or transient? )

2) what kind of grid i should use? (static or moving grid , structural or unstructured?)

3) what kind of coordinate i should use? (descartian or spherical or cylindrical?)

4) Is This necessary to know the details of 2D Navier–Stokes equations in order to do the simulation with "Fluent" ?

my Email is : (( tahmaseb_kashani@yahoo.com ))

thanks beforehand,

Regards

Hi,

Some additional information about what you are hoping to understand about the flapping would help--i.e. what sorts of data do you want/need from the simulation (like loads, velocities etc.) That will determine the complexity you will need.

Thanks dear Ian, in fact I do know what sort of data I want from simulation, but i'm looking for help to do the simulation and first of all I have those 4 questions wich I wrote above.
anyway, thanks for your reply & Good Luck

I meant tell us what information you want, because if you are interested in surface pressure distributions (might be able to use inviscid or laminar) as opposed to skin friction coefficients (might want to use turbulence model), or midspan (maybe 2D) versus wingtip flow structures (3D)...if you want to email me those specifics, my email is ian.helms@eng.ox.ac.uk

you won't need to know that much about the navier-stokes equations to use the software, but we'd need a more specific description of what you want out of the simulation to give you guidance on how to prepare your case
