I have a problem with speed of execution for the program written in fortran 90/95.

I have two computers: one is a simple desctop and another is multi-core laptop with faster processors, bigger memories etc. Both computers have 64-bit windows on them. I expected that the program will run faster on sophisticated laptop.

But it turns out that some subroutines in the program go 3 times slower on "sophisticated" machine, while other subroutines go with approximately the same speed.

Is it sofware or hardware problem? I was using silverfrost FTN95 free personal edition compiler for the program.

Will be grateful for your input
