Infiniband recommendation 2020

Hey,

So what is recommended today for a small cluster (~10 computers)?

Preferably in an Ubuntu environment.

Used, from eBay. Reasonable price/performance. Usecase is OpenFOAM

Speed and brand?

Mellanox and for 10 nodes, FDR.

Mellanox seems like the bread and butter for infiniband solutions.

Is FDR necessary for 10 computers? Although it may be very difficult, is it possible to estimate the benefit of FDR compared to say DDR? Is it purely in terms of speed/latency or is it also in terms of ease-of-use?

Used QDR hardware is very affordable, I don't know if there's a reason to go as far back as DDR.
