Is this the right forum for posting a collaboration advert?

I am neither searching a job, nor offering a job, but would like to cooperate with CFD users (industry or university) in the field of 1d-3d combination. Have developed a 1d code myself which allows to investigate a case prior to launching a CFD model and which can supply boundary conditions for the CFD.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The current focus is gas turbine combustors.

The whole of the combustor can be modelled including the cooling system, all flow paths and walls.

Basic results are flowsplit, pressure distribution, species composition and wall temperatures.

Heat transfer includes radiation and different types of cooling.

Setup and solution of a case are done in very little time compared to CFD.

u r work seems interesting have u tried any simulation of above case in a commercial package and later work on your code

and can u send me exactly the problem definition and details

Ravi,

This is exactly where I'd like to cooperate. One party does the CFD whilst I do the 1d calc. One could try forward, reverse and roundtrip engineering between 1d and CFD.

Regarding test cases, I have a number of them, but none that is 100% documented (manufacturers do not like publishing too much detail). Is there something like a standard gt combustor test case out there? Thanks for any hints.

I'm not sure about your world, but 1D-3D coupling is established technology in the automotive CFD world. Most 3D models of engine systems have 1D boundary conditions applied to them in a fully coupled manner. Normal practice is to run a 1D model to convergence. Then apply the converged solution as boundary conditions to a 3D model of a subsection (to get it moving). Then switch to fully coupled mode, with coupled boundaries.
