Hi,
Can someone explain me what is the physical meaning of Eigenvalues and eigenvectors in Riemann solvers in CFD. How does the eigenvalues and eigenvectors are related to the flux computation? Thanks in Advance.!!! |

you can find useful the details in the book of LeVeque on Hyperbolic equations. As you see from the dimension, the eigenvalues of the Euler equations are characteristic velocity defining the local slope of the characteristic curves. For omoentropic flows you have Riemann invariants along them, otherwise there are no general invariants.

Eigen Values corresponds to the wave speeds and Eigen vectors are used to find the jump conditions....
