Dear CFD Forum Users: Has anyone used finite-volume gfortran code with ACML for late model Opterons (hypertransport-3 / DDR3 models)? How much is gained if one does not alter the codebase at all? (i.e., not modifying the fortran to use calls to ACML-specific routines)

I'm wondering how much speed gain I can get out of (1) trying to compile with ACML, and/or (2) buying an Opteron specific FORTRAN compiler, like PGI. What I'm using right now is the latest vanilla gfortran, and I'm hoping someone who has tried this can give me a feel for how much I can gain by switching compilers.

Thank You!!
Patricia
