Hi,

Our university class have been asked to model a submerged jet in OpenFOAM using the k-omegaSST and then k-epsilon turbulence models and to discuss any difference in the results. The jet does not impinge on any surfaces or similar.

My understanding was that k-w SST "switched" to k-epsilon when not in the vicinity of any walls, so I was expecting identical results - there are no walls involved so if my understanding is correct, there should be no differences.

However, we do have fairly slight difference in the k-w SST and k-e models (for the same BoCo's etc).

Could anyone point me towards a source/paper that might explain these differences?

Best regards,
Anton
