I am trying to find out the heat flux and wall temperature at the interface of fluid and solid interface at a mach number of 7, the temperature is OK, but the heat flux values are very low and negative as well.

can anyone tell me how to calculate heat flux on the interface.

For conjugate heat transfer in low-mach number (incompressible) flows, I have used the direct definition of heat flux - i.e., given that the normal temperature gradient can be conveniently computed, -k dT/dn, where dT/dn and k are both evaluated on one the same side of the interface (hence I typically use a first-order approximation for dT/dn going away from the interface).

Not sure if anything changes when you move to high mach number flows though..

In my case, i have to calculate heat generation and heat transfer both, heat generation is related with the fluid and heat transfer is related to solid, and i am using conjugate heat transfer to calculate the same. The heat flux on the surface give me the heat generation and this heat generation will be responsible for heat transfer. I am getting 2000K peak temperature but the heat flux on the surface is only 200 w/m2. which is not possible conceptully. So, can anyone tell me where i am going wrong.

thanks in advance
