Are Pyramid elements good for solvers

Hello friends,
Can anyone explain me in the following doubt Case: I am having a volume mesh on a geometry like a waterjacker for SI engine. I plan to create a hybrid mesh ( tet+ prism layers) In some places of my mesh ,I get pyramids . So my question is are pyramids here are an unwanted elements or I should still go ahead with such mesh or sit n redo the mesh till I get rid of pyramids Thanks for your inputs |

Pyramids are not the problem in case there are no sharp angles.

Now, you saying pyramids are no problem ,in places of smooth geometry, I agree . I would like to have a information consider, I have a intake Port and I have two meshes. One having some pyramids locally at sharp corners (Also as I understand that you would get pyramids only at the places of sharp corners becuase of improper inputs for generating prisms) So here is the doubt ,would you accept the mesh where there are pyramids in such places or a mesh which do not have any pyramids in places of sharp corners.
How much does it really matter to CFD solver. I would really appreciate your answer for the same. Thank you |
