Hello all,

I am studying to simulate an oscillating cylinder.

Terminology "Lock-in" for vortex shedding is difficult to get it.

Papers refer "Lock-in" to synchronization of vortex shedding frequency with oscillating frequency of the cylinder.

In addition, in case that the cylinder is oscillating parallel to the freestream,

oscillating frequency of the cylinder is near twice the vortex shedding at stationary cylinder for lock-in.

If i assume oscillating frequency of the cylinder is 0.34, i.e. the vortex shedding at stationary cylinder is 0.17,

then what can i expect for the shedding frequency? 0.34 or 0.17?

Share your knowledge.

Thanks
