Hi All,
Does anyone know of publications / references / web-sites that discuss techniques / algorithms for generating prismatic inflation layer meshes at the boundary of a domain and the integration into a tetrahedral / triangular mesh? I would be very happy to hear about simple algorithms for 2-D meshes as well as anything about 3-D. Thanks in advance. andy2o |

Hello andy2o,
Dr. Steve Karman at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is researching this topic. Here is one reference that I was able to find on the UT SimCenter's web site, http://www.utc.edu/Research/SimCenter/index.php. S. Karman Jr., "Unstructured Viscous Layer Insertion Using Linear-Elastic Smoothing," AIAA Journal, Volume 45, Number 1, pp. 168-180, January 2007. I'm sure other researchers are investigating this issue. |

John,
Many thanks - that should give me a starting point for a literature search / citation search etc. (I hadn't heard the term 'viscous layer insertion' before. Finding the right search term is often half the work....) Best regards, Andy |
