I work for a CAE software company and currently do CFD support. I have access to CAD/CFD software, as well as a lot of 3D printing and metal fabrication equipment. As a hobby I was considering doing an entire design cycle on a centrifugal pump: hopefully validate a CFD simulation with the “As Is” design, then make a few design modifications, simulate performance in CFD, and manufacture the “best” design.
Unfortunately there is not a lot of widely documented pump designs with experimental data. The key here is that I require experimental data and CAD design. Other CFD verification studies like Ahmed body and NACA 0012 are well documented and there is no need to have an experimental test rig- probably unrealistic in my case (budget, time, space). After doing some searching online I have come up empty handed.
Can anyone point me in the right direction here? The ideal case would probably be getting an old pump design/performance data off a company that manufacturers pumps. Ideally I’d like a small pump (fish tank, dishwasher-size) but I should be able to scale models and data to fit my needs.
