Hello all,
Currently i am working on 2D airfoil simulation using open foam.I have square computational box and want to do simulation at different angle of attack using snappyHexMesh tool. My questions is do i need to make a C domain in order to simulate at different angle of attack or square domain will also work. If i give the velocity values in x and y will it work?? Because someone told me in square domain you have to move your geometry for each AOA.

Thanks

In case of an isolated airfoil simulation rectangular domain will work if the angle of attack is set by changing stagger angle of the blade rather than changing the inlet flow angle. another point is that the size of the domain should be large enough compared with size of the airfoil. I think it would be better to let the box be normal to velocity at inlet and outlet boundaries and parallel to side boundaries.
In case of turbomachinery flows this will be totally different.

Thanks alot so if i make domain curved from one side (Inlet) will it work changing only in velocity. Also the angle should be converted into radian or directly applicable in degrees.

Regarding the unit of angle (degree or radian) I am not sure. You had better check manuals of your code. written codes usually work with radians.
changing the inlet boundary with no change in the position of blade can not affect the velocity direction toward the airfoil. It only changes the massflow rate. you need to change either the velocity vector or airfoil stagger.
