We develop a prototype where we reached a point at which we can't proceed any further with just experiments. We need to simulate a droplet leaving a surface in its details.
Could anyone recommend a approriate tool for that? As we are no big company, reasonable priced would be very helpful and as we have not that much of experience with fluid simulation, a tool that could be learned relatively easily would also be very helpful. We do have experience with simulation itself. Thx in advance |

Is it just a single droplet leaving the surface? Does it form secondary droplets? Is there any heat transfer or phase change (evaporation) involved? What about surface tension and contact angles?
We did some comparison with resolved VOF using interIsoFoam, interQHDFoam and StarCCM+. ------------------------- Jörn Beilke - www.beilke-cfd.de |

Thank you for the reply Jörn.
I've got a personal message from arjun suggesting Wildkatze which looks aktually quite good. I guess we will try that first. But the VOF tools you suggested could be a nice backup if we can't achieve what we need with Wildkatze. I guess Siemens technology is not reallythat cheap, isn't it? |

Wildkatze is a good choice and Arjun is a real expert in this field.
But don't expect it to be cheap adventure. CFD is always an expensive approach and resolved droplet dynamics even more. So you need a lot of time, patience, computing power and a good engineering sense to be successfull :-) |
