Hello all,
I'm new to techplot, I have the data file which contains x and y location and temperature values for a particular time step. I want to plot temperature contours in Tecplot 360. I did triangulation and got the contours (flood and lines). Now the lines in the contour are randmoly created and labels (values of temperature) are also random. I want to have the lines according to the temperature reading and the excat value of temperature on those lines. I have attached the screenshot of my graph below. The notepad file shows the X,Y and Z values of the graph. As you can see no values in the Z coloum are appeared in the graph. The values on the lines in the contour are random. please help. Thnakyou |

Click the Details.... button next to contour. Under levels and color, you can specify the contour levels.
If necessary you can then also go to labels, select show labels and and select contour value (it's the default). |

Hello,
Thankyou for your reply, Could you pls tell me detail how would i input value of v3 column? All I can see is either I can input max and min value, and then levels. Or I can input the step size (delta option there) for min and max value. But I have quite sensitive values in V3 they can not be input like this. For example the values in V3 are : 0 , 0.023, 0.061, 0.065, 7, 7.11, 7.13 etc. So, I need to input it like this only. I dont understand why techplot doesn't take the as it is values loaded in it. Why does it show things randomly? Pls help. Thankyou |

Just don't use the Set Levels tool. Remove all the levels. And then manually add your levels using Add Level.
Quote:
Because there is a distinction between the data that you load and the contour level used to represent the data. Your data is one thing. The way you plot it and choose to plot it, is another. You have values of 0, 0.023, but what if someone else wants to plot a contour line at 0.020? The underlying data is the same, but each person chooses to plot it differently. You cannot expect that everyone looks at data the same way. There is not one method of visual representation. And tecplot has no way of knowing beforehand how you want to represent your data. It tries to give you some tools for you to tell it though. |
