Hi fellow CFD enthusiasts,

I'm analysing a conical poppet relief valve using dynamic mesh in fluent 2021 R2.

Previously I used a single named selection for the whole poppet to extract the force acting on the poppet.
However I'm now interested in extracting the force only on the conical part of the poppet. I therefore created a separate named selection called "cone" and a second one representing the remaining surfaces of the poppet called "restpoppet".

Having two different named selections forces me to create two different dynamic mesh zones coupled to the same 1DOF UDF.
My concern is, that in doing so, the two dynamic mesh zones may move independently from each other depending on the hydrodynamic forces acting on them (although they are parts of the same rigid body).

Or, will the two dynamic mesh zones move together as a rigid body, since the "type" of dynamic mesh zones is "rigid body" for both named selections and that they are linked to the same Six DOF UDF?

Any help is appreciated!

Best Regards,
Shrap

After some testing, it turns out the two dynamic meshes move together when they are connected to the same 1DOF UDF
