Hi all!

There is a lot of CFD software out there and it is difficult sometimes to keep track of them.

Looking for new solutions, I found that there are no adequate attempts to compare CFD software. I suggest that we collect opinions on software in this topic. I think that in addition to a simple list of software, we could add elements of a subjective assessment from people who have used it.

We will rate the software according to the following criteria:
  1. Software capabilities. Are there many mathematical models, solver settings, etc. implemented? (from 0 to 5 points).
  2. GUI. How easy it is to work with this software? (from 0 to 5 points).
  3. Meshing. Is it possible to build an unstructured mesh in this software? Are there enough settings and possibilities? (from 0 to 5 points).
  4. Postprocessor. How many built-in features of the postprocessor are there? Including its convenience, and the ability to render. (from 0 to 5 points).
  5. The presence of HPC and the quality of its work. (from 0 to 5 points).
  6. The possibility of using the GPU and the quality of the implementation. (from 0 to 5 points).

Please post in this thread in the following format:

Quote:
Classic CFD:
1) Ansys Fluent (5; 4; 3; 4; 5; 2);
2)...

SPH:
1) PreonLab (2; 5; 2; 5; 4; 4);
2)...

LBM:
1) Simulia XFlow(3; 3; 2; 4; 5; 5);
2)...

Your comments:
It would be great to hear your suggestions on it.

Summary data will be published in the header. Estimates will be averaged and written next to the software. I'll try to do it every 2-3 days.

P.S. Remember that the rating is subjective. This post is not a recommendation, but just a an attempt to collect informed expert opinions.

Hello,
Could you please elaborate on what capacity you used preonLab and did you find any paper which showed relative pros and cons between preonLab SPH and other FVM commercial methods
