Hi all,

I am using finite element method to solve for potential flow over a cylinder. I am using 4 noded bilinear quadrilateral with isoparametric formulation. I need to convert global nodal velocity(u,v) to local nodal velocity(u,v). can anybody give me any pointers for finding transformation matrix for quad's and triangles and so on...

thanks

abhijit

I have a paper which has been submitted for publication and which discusses this topic. You can find a copy (the first paper, "I. Some Lagrange ....") at http://j.t.holdeman.home.att.net/research.htm. Perhaps the discussion in Section 5 would be of use to you.
