unstructured cartesian mesh generation

i am looking for a reference for unstructured Cartesian mesh generation in 2D for a complex geometry. can anybody introduce a reference? a sample mesh is :

i had a look on that handbook. it seems the method is not mentioned in it. so i am looking for a reference for this type of grid.
