Hi everybody
We have got plenty of CFD softwares to collect data for our research. Is it customary to give reference to the software that we are using? Because many publications dont inlcude details about software that they have used. What is the convention used? Thanks in anticipation |

Hi there,
Definitely one has to make sure he/she does include the software code used in the runs. This is because, although the fundamental eqns, assumptions may be universal, implementation of the terms are different in each code. This, tthey do so, in order to get robust stable solutions. Now, there are a number of ways to implement a term into the CFD code and hence, each has its own merits de-merits..so its better to say you used x software and obtained y result ..but with another z software you obtained "similar" but not the same result ... It then becomes clear to readers what you have done and what is possible with the code you are mentioning. in the journals, people do have to include the name of the code its more important..and if they have their own code utilized, they should have validated the code earlier and add the reference or provide validation of their code to simple problems within the article. This ensures that the code is acceptable to the standards. Hope this helps. /CFDtoy Visit http://cfdtoy.blogspot.com Quote:
