Default Looking for a code of exact wall heat flux on cylinder enclosure wall

Dear all,
I do the radiative transfer simulation by using the finite volume method. To validate my simulation result, I want to compare it with the exact wall heat flux on cylinder enclosure wall. Where can I download the code of exact wall heat flux on cylinder enclosure wall?

Any kind of suggestion and help are welcome

Hi ljwbuaa,

Not sure I fully understand what the problem is. If you merely solve the radiative equilibrium between the cylinder surfaces (no participating medium within the cylinder), and all walls are gray and diffuse, you may use view factors (differential, if you wish to get the spatial distribution). I also suspect you may find the solution in one of the classics (Siegel & Howell, Sparrow & Cess, Modest), although I have not checked by myself.

If your problem is different, please clarify.

Dear Rami,

Thank for your response. My current research is related to the cylindrical enclosure with an absorbing-emitting but nonscattering medium.
The medium temperature is assumed a constant quantity (T=100K), and the wall is assumed cold (T=0K) and black(emission coefficent=1).
I want to compare the FVM simulation result of the radiative flux on the cylinder wall with the exact solution.So, I need a code of exct solution about cylinder enclosure.
Can you help me? any suggestion are welcome.

I guess you refer to an infinite cylinder. If so, there is an exact solution in a paper by E.H. Chui et al (J Thermophys. Heat Transfer, v6 n4 pp 605-611, 1992, cited by Moder et al, Num Heat Trans, B 30:437-452,1996, cited by us, Ben Zvi et at, Num Heat Trans, B 35:163-183,1999) which may be what you are after. In any case, in Modest's book, there is a section on non-scatering media, with a solution (eq. 8.31 in the 1993 edition). which - I guess may be used to your case to easily reach the solution. Sorry, I am too busy to give you a fully cooked solution...
