NVIDIA works better for general CFD computations, especially with CUDA.
Check your ATI video card webpage and see if it supports OpenCL, if yes you will be able to do GPU computation on the card. However OpenCL is a relatively new technology and, at least for me, it looks too bloated for serious CFD computation, o the other hand CUDA has a more clean syntax and it requires less boilerplate code to start a program.
