Hi, I want to learn MAC methods for my thesis. Have you any suggestion like a link, book. I will wait, and also can you tell me the best iteration method in CFD code.

Hi,
You can find some MAC calculations results on my web page: http://panoramix.ift.uni.wroc.pl/~maq/eng/ I've put also some results from my MSc thesis about combination of the MAC Method with SIMPLE algoritm (iteration procedure to solve N-S equations). Paper about SIMLPE can be downloaded from my home page too. Good Luck! Maciej Matyka |

Thanks a lots. My thesis algorithm very long, and I try to understad. 2D liguid solsing in a rectangular tank, but I am modifying code to 2D curvilinear coordinates. 2D curvilinear liquid sloshing but curvilinerar coordinates. so I have to learn MAC methods

MAC method use staggered grid where u, v compoment and pressure are located on left face, bottom face and center of a mesh cell, respectively. In curvilinear grids, there are problems with MAC method when left face turns from pointing to +x direction to pointing to +y direction, where (x,y) are Cartesican coordinates. Unless defining both u v on both left and bottom face, or defining U, V (contravariable velocity component) instead of u,v, MAC is unable to extend to curvilinear grids.

Continue to use MAC under Cartesian grids, with special treatment of curvilinear BCs. The treatment of BC in Cartesian mesh is a hot problem in CFD.

i think i know how to use BC with cartesian / mesh less type solvers, i am currently trying to implement that ,its a matter of time , i do with it
