Hi,

I just wonder how we can define a residence time of a particle enter and come out of the tank?

Thank you so much

You can define particle residence time from an approximate solution of force balance using leapfrog method.

F=ma v(n+0.5)=v(n)+a dt x(n+1)=x(n) + v(n+0.5) dt

Dear Harish,

THe leapfrog method, is it in Fluent? I just wonder if I have a tank and would like to measure resident time of a particle spending in that tank, what would we do in FLuent?

Try using a scalar and plotting the age of the scalar. It's standard stuff in Fluent. As is particle tracking.

I'm sure all this is in the manuals!
