Default info about fastest available workstation

Hi all

I have to buy a workstation for carrying out 3-D simulations on fluidized bed heat transfer. could anyone suggest the best and fastest possible configuration available at the moment.

probably amd opteron based systems running some flavour of linux. Depends how much you want to spend, what you will be running on it and what sort of OS you are comfortable with. You could go for a unix station (sun, hpux, sgi etc etc) but you will probably pay a premium and will have less customisation options available.

If I had a few grand to spend i would look at a minimum of a dual opteron with 8 gigs of ram. Go for AMD chips too, they are well proven and cheaper
