Hello everyone.

I'm working on my M.I proyect and have to do a meshing of an Aorta, I'm not an proficient user of ICEM so I've came here to ask for an advice of how to proceed to generate the mesh.

I'll upload a image of the geometry that has to be meshed.
I'm trying to generate an hybrid mesh(tetra and Hexa).
So the first thing that i do is to separate the gometry in parts as it shown in the image, and create the interfaces between the meshes.
I do all the things that are shown in tutorials (create volume, define sizes, etc)

The thing is when i try to start with blocking, I believe that i can do hexa mesh in the surfaces (cilinder_1,cilinder_2,cilinder_3,cilinder_4,aorta _1,aorta_2 and aorta_3)
which are close to a cilinder.

I need and advice about this, is this posible? or should i just mesh all in tetra?

Carlos:

Pointwise has a video showing structured (hex) meshing for an aneurysm here: http://www.pointwise.com/videos/aneurysm/

It's not exactly your geometry and it is in Pointwise, but it shows a structured grid topology that you could apply to your problem. I'm sure ICEM can also produce this grid topology, so maybe this will help.
