Dear OpenFOAM Community,
I am currently developing an overset mesh code for an in-house CFD code and have encountered a specific issue regarding cell type assignment in scenarios with more than one overset mesh. From my understanding, there are three primary cell types: 0 (calculated), 1 (interpolated), and 2 (hole). However, while working with the twoSimpleRotors tutorial case in OpenFOAM v2306, I observed cells with a type value of 4 in regions where interpolated cells overlap (refer to the attached image for details). My attempts to find relevant documentation or discussions on this particular issue have been unsuccessful. The closest I came across was a bug report (https://develop.openfoam.com/Develop.../-/issues/1683) related to incorrect cell type assignment, but it does not address the occurrence of a cell type with the value 4. Has anyone else encountered this issue or can provide any insights into why these cells are being assigned a type value of 4? Any information or guidance would be greatly appreciated. |
