Hello,

I am trying to compile foam-extend-3.2 with the ./Allwmake.firstInstall command. It starts compiling and installing the thirdparty softwares but when it gets to the part of installing parmetis 4.0.3, I get:

--2016-05-25 15:39:17-- (try:14) http://glaros.dtc.umn.edu/gkhome/fet...s-4.0.3.tar.gz
Connecting to glaros.dtc.umn.edu (glaros.dtc.umn.edu)|160.94.77.162|:80... failed: Connection timed out.
Retrying.

Help!

Thanks.

Hello Virgilio,

I am facing a similar problem. But after around 20 or so tries (to connect) I think it just skipped that part and continued compiling. After completion of compiling, I tries to run a small case, but it doesnt work.

So, let me know if you figure out anything on this issue.

Regards,
Sourabh

same problem.
It seems the parMetis website is out-of service.
The installation may continue without metis.
I think it will cause the problem that when doing decomposePar, metis cannot be used. I was wondering whether other functions will be effecte?

It finished compiling but like how Sourabh said, none of the solvers work. I typed icoFoam -help and I get command not found. Also, the thirdparty installation of bison and swak4foam were unsuccessful.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
No file 'swakConfiguration'. Python etc won't work. See README for details
Try 'ln -s swakConfiguration.automatic swakConfiguration' for automatic configuration. BEWARE: this does not work on some systems
Checking swak4Foam-version and generating file
Swak version is 0.3.2

No 'bison' found. This is absolutely essential for swak4Foam. Can't go on
Every Linux has a binary package that installs bison (http://www.gnu.org/software/bison/). Install it. Then go on
As an alternative you can install a local copy of bison by running ./maintainanceScripts/compileRequirements.sh from the installation directory
BTW: it was listed as a requirement in the README. You read that, didn't you?

Requirements for Library not satisfied. I see no sense in going on
Check the README before you go on to ask. And search: Most likely your problem occured to 5 other people before and has been solved on the MessageBoard

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lida/Sourabh, did you get this message at the end of compiling?

Hi, Virgilio

I did not get the same error as yours.
The third party software bison or Python can be installed by using the command
"sudo apt-get install bison" in ubuntu or something like this in other os.

And wtih the command not found problem:
Before you start compile(./Allmake.firstime), you should install the openfoam required packages which shows in this link.

Lida,

So all the thirdparty packages should be installed before installing foam-extend? The list of thirdparties are in that link.

I think so. You may try it and re-compile it.
